Gifford’s Ice Cream Named the Cal Ripken World Series Ice Cream of Choice; Creates New Limited Edition Flavor Graham Slam

Cal Ripken World Series Comes to Maine for First Time

Skowhegan, Maine – August 2, 2022 – What do ice cream and baseball have in common? As the 2022 Cal Ripken Major/60 12U World Series is about to get underway for the first time ever in Maine, you could say the combination is going to be a winning one. Maine’s ice cream company, Gifford’s, has been named the 2022 Cal Ripken World Series Ice Cream of Choice, and the local company has put on their baseball caps and created a limited-edition flavor – Graham Slam – in honor of the tournament.

“We are thrilled and proud to be part of such an exciting time for the Waterville community!” said Gifford’s Vice President of Sales, JC Gifford. “Waterville has been waiting two long years to host the World Series, and it’s going to be an incredible treat for local baseball fans to experience. We’re happy to be a part of it, and we’ll be in the stands rooting for all the young athletes but especially the four local Maine teams.”

Batter Up for a Winning Flavor

The new limited-edition flavor Graham Slam features a big hit of graham cracker ripple and chocolate coated honey crisps swinging through the creamy delicious graham-flavored ice cream. Baseball and ice cream fans can find the new the Graham Slam flavor at Gifford’s five family-owned ice cream stands located in Waterville (170 Silver Street), Auburn, Bangor, Farmington, and Skowhegan

“We hope we knock it out of the park with this flavor,” noted Gifford. “By making it available at each of our family-owned stands, everyone – even those who can’t make it out to the ballpark – can join in on the fun and excitement of this big event happening in Maine for the first time.”

Maine’s Female Athlete of the Year to Throw Out First Pitch

To add even more excitement to the Cal Ripken World Series in Waterville, Maine’s ice cream company has secured Maine’s Female Athlete of the Year and Skowhegan High School graduate, Jaycie Christopher to throw out the first pitch on Monday August 8th at the 5:30 PM game. Christopher is heading to UMaine to play basketball and made history when she was named Miss Maine Basketball and Miss Maine Softball in the same season.

Gifford’s Ice Cream is also the sponsor of the Home Run Derby set to take place on August 5, 2022, at Purnell Wrigley Field in Waterville from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. One player from each team will participate and the team with the most home runs wins.
