Acadia National Park Supporters Celebrate Acadia’s BIG 100

Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream joins forces with Hannaford and other key partners
for an epic birthday party in Ellsworth

Ellsworth, Maine—June 23, 2016 — The Acadia National Park Centennial Task Force, Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream, and Hannaford announced today that they will join forces for an early summer celebration in honor of Acadia’s BIG 100th birthday. The celebration, put on by Acadia Centennial signature sponsors and partners, is FREE and open to the public. It will be held the morning of Friday, June 24 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Hannaford parking lot located at the Maine Coast Shopping Mall at 225 High St. in Ellsworth, Maine.

The celebration will include an exciting lineup of activities and announcements, including: a keynote address by Friends of Acadia President David MacDonald; a proclamation presented by Maine Senator Brian Langley; a surprise announcement by Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream CEO Lindsay Skilling; the L.L. Bean Bootmobile, and a morning of kid-friendly activities, such as jump-roping provided by EMHS, an interactive art project offered by Summer Festival of the Arts, an Acadia National Park wrapped automobile from Darling’s Auto Group, a HUGE Acadia Birthday Cake provided by Hannaford and a brand new ice cream flavor provided by Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream. Fresh fruit will be provided by EMHS and Bar Harbor Bank & Trust will provide water. Star 97.7 will broadcast live from the celebration.

At the celebration, Gifford’s CEO Lindsay Skilling will share scoops of her company’s newest retail ice cream flavor I Scream for Cake, which bears the Acadia National Park Centennial emblem. A second new flavor Chocolate Brownie Crunch will also be available in select grocery stores. Five percent of this year’s proceeds from these two flavors will support centennial park projects through Friends of Acadia.
