The top international award for vanilla ice cream went to Gifford’s Old Fashioned Vanilla Ice Cream at an international competition at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. The contest is the only national judging contest of its kind involving hundreds of dairies and ice cream products. Over 65,000 people from over 80 different countries around the world attend the World Dairy Expo. Gifford’s Ice Cream won first place in its very first year of competing.
When asked, how can a small family run company from Maine win first place in a world class international competition Roger Gifford responded, “We have been really fortunate to be able to use milk and cream supplied EXCLUSIVELY from the best dairy farms in Maine. Combining our dedication, experience, and knowledge of ice cream making along with the very best ingredients has resulted in award winning ice cream that continues to support the Maine economy. We’ve been perfecting our ice cream for five generations and it shows. At Gifford’s, ice cream is not just a business it’s our PASSION.”
Gifford’s Ice Cream, located in Skowhegan Maine, is one of the last regional ice cream manufacturers in northern New England. Gifford’s Ice Cream is available in retail stores as well as in hundreds of ice cream stands throughout all six New England states as well as New York and New Jersey. Gifford’s employs up to a hundred people and purchases over two million gallons of milk exclusively from Maine farmers while producing over one million gallons of ice cream every year now, that is A LOT of happy cows!!!!
